Mobile Technician (Johannesburg)
Overall, the Purpose of the Job is to achieve the required labour output by performing efficient maintenance and repair work on machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with the company’s quality, safety, and procedure standards.
Main duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment in the service centre or at clients’ sites.
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment and diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters and other testing devices.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Test newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Provide comprehensive and accurate reports on diagnosis, assessment of components/parts, failures, observations, actions, and recommendations.
- Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary.
- Ensure excellence in customer service delivery through meticulously following procedures and processes.
- Ensure that all documentation is in place and accurately completed before repairs are done.
- Work standby and overtime when required.
- Ensure that all OHS procedures are followed and that all tools and equipment are handled with proficiency and care.
Refrigeration Experience and Responsibilities:
- Install, service, and repair commercial refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose faults in refrigeration units, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related components.
- Conduct leak detection tests and ensure systems are compliant with environmental and safety regulations.
- Recharge refrigerant gases and perform pressure and temperature testing to confirm proper operation.
- Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of refrigeration systems to improve efficiency and extend lifespan.
- Maintain accurate records of refrigeration work performed, including refrigerant usage and parts replaced.
- Provide technical support and advice to clients regarding refrigeration performance and maintenance best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- Relevant technical qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with a Trade Test Certificate in Electrical or Refrigeration.
- At least 3 -5 years of technical (workshop and repairs) experience, which includes repairs, assembly of equipment, quotations on parts, etc.
Skills:
- To perform repairs and installations of equipment
- Technical repair skills, including refrigeration repairs.
- Excellent communication skills on all levels (speak, read, and write)
- Ability to manage customers’ expectations.
- Problem-solving skills
- Team player
- PC literate (SAP, Excel, Word, e-mail)
- Energetic/shows initiative and can work under pressure.
- Ability to consistently deliver quality service even when under pressure.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of customer services
- Repair, testing, and quoting on products received.
- Maintenance of all tools and equipment
- Product application knowledge of catering equipment is an advantage.
- OHS Act knowledge.
